An introduction to the Dev team and Party Snakes

Hey everyone, we are SMUG Team 4, a group of 4 university students from the University of Chile who are working on a game project for our game design course.

The goal of the project is to make a game with at least one central and innovative game mechanic, something that is rarely seen or haven't ever been done before. In this case, we chose to make a board/party style game, similar to Snakes and Ladders, but with a twist: The players are in control of the snakes, and they have to compete with each other to reach the highest score.

Currently we don’t have very clear all the mechanics for the game, but the essential thing is that there will be snake tamers, who will have to roll the dice to advance around the board and obtain cards to empower their snakes, after a certain number of rounds, all the tamers will face each other and points will be earned depending on how the battle goes. There could be different fighting modes and different snake power up cards.

The game is local multiplayer only, and 2-4 players can play together in a single session. We have no plans to add computer controlled characters, but we'll have a little text tutorial and the controls alongside the game so players know how to move and play.

As an end note, we will release a few prototypes as we work on the game, so look forward to playing them in the near future. It's our very first video game project, and we hope you enjoy the final product when it releases soon!

Bye for now,

-SMUG Team 4
