A new update on Party Snakes + First prototypes available!

IMPORTANT EDIT: It has come to our attention that the Windows prototype isn't working properly right now, we'll update it as soon as we can and sorry for the inconvenience :(

IMPORTANT EDIT 2: We seem to have solved it, should be all good now, but if there's any problems be sure to let us know!

Hi! Hope you had a nice weekend! For this week's devlog, we want to update you on some of the things we've been working on for Party Snakes.

For the battles, you can see the map has been expanded in order to make it more fun and dynamic! This is where the combat between snakes will take place.

We've also been working on the 3D map for the board of the game, which we're trying to expand to be double the width of the original prototype map as well.

While we are not quite ready to show off the final map, here's a sneak peek of the new "power" and "puzzle" boxes that you will find spread across the new map:

As you can see, the first three indicate that the player will find power cards once they step on one of them, while the puzzle box indicates that they must solve a puzzle to continue! This is a mechanic that we hope to implement in the next few weeks, and we hope that you are as excited for it as much as we are.

The final map is still on construction but we might show you the result in an extra Devlog next weekend, so stay tuned! EDIT: We decided that we were not ready to show anything yet. But be sure to stay tuned for the May 14th Devlog!

On an end note, we are happy to announce that the first two prototypes that we made (Proto map + 2D combat demo) are now available! They support MacOS and Windows systems, so be sure to give them a try! (Even if there's nothing to interact with yet).

Controls (3D Map - NOT FINAL):

-Up arrow: Move up

-Down arrow: Move down

-Left Arrow: Move left

-Right Arrow: Move right

-Space button: Jump

Controls (2D Combat - NOT FINAL):

-Up arrow: Move up

-Down arrow: Move down

-Left Arrow: Move left

-Right Arrow: Move right

-Space button: Jump

-Q: Backwards spin (While jumping)

-E: Forwards spin (While jumping)

A quick note before playing them, to exit the 3D Map, just close the Godot window that pops up. The 2D combat demo has a (semi) working menu where you can retry if your snake falls down an endless pit or exit the game. Hope you have fun!

Have a great week!
